A model adventurer: golden hair, bronze skin and eyes as emerald blue as the South Seas. In the 1940's, Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl (Pål Sverre Hagen) has a crazy idea. He goes to New York to find sponsors for a new adventure: to prove that South Americans were the first to settle Polynesia, he plans to sail from Peru to the South Sea islands - 7,000 kilometers on a raft made of balsa wood. The experts laugh at him and doubt he'll make it. But soon Heyerdahl proves he has enough expertise and crazy ers to start his adventure.
